Brian Lee Bost 62, passed Dec. 14, 2005 in Big Bear Lake, Calif. Born May 25, 1943 in 
Shawnee-town, Ill., Brian was a resident of the Valley for 26 years. He was the Camp 
Director and CEO for the YMCAs of Long Beach and Los Angeles when he retired in May 2005, 
as well as the CEO for Easter Seals of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

His chosen profession was to serve people through

organizations that provided family-like, mental and physically positive environments for 
people of all walks-of-life and abilities. He brought many people to-gether in joyful 
situations to honor these people. Brian loved his own family, all the new families that grew 
from knowing him, and sought to discover new avenues to bring his love of people, the land 
and life together.

For his dedication, Brian received numerous awards and recognization the latest being the 
dedication of the new building, the Brian Bost Lodge, on site at YMCA Camp Whittle, Calif. 
in 2005.

Brian is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Michele (Bost) Stewart, Daly City, CA; son, 
James Bost, Big Bear Lake; sister, Leilani Bost, Oceanside, CA, and his brother, John Bost, 
Santa Cruz, CA.

 
A memorial service will be held January 7, 2006 at the Grace First Presbyterian Church in Long Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family knows Brian would have wanted his memory to be honored with cash 
donations toward “sending a child or people with developmental disabilities to camp.”
