Betty Newkirk 82, passed Sept. 20, 2005. Born to Fred and Linda Walters Jan. 3, 1923, 
in Friend, Neb., she graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1941, where she was 
active in track and was a cheerleader. She met Woody Newkirk in March and they were 
married in May. They were married just short of 63 years. She had many health problems, 
but enjoyed her time with her friends and family. She enjoyed making crafts and giving 
them away. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody, and her brother, Glen G. 

She is survived by her brother Bob from Exeter and three daughters, Linda and Ed Neuman 
of Big Bear City, Glenna Spindelman of Oceanside, and Jean and Mark Bernhard of Fullerton, 
eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

A memorial service was held in Fullerton on Oct. 8, 2005.
