Born Dec. 29, 1928 in Northampton, Mass. after the death of her father, an American French soldier during WWI who married her mother, a French girl, while stationed in that country, Yvonne, along with her mother and three brothers moved to the San Fernando Valley. Yvonne met and married Conrad Seibel after her graduation from Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and raised four boys. In 1985 she and husband Conrad moved to Big Bear. She was a charter member of the Arts Council of Big Bear, as well as active in the Friends of the Library, Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, the Moose Lodge, the Senior Citizen's Center and the Arts Council of Big Bear Lake. Yvonne was a award winning artist receiving the City Purchase Awards in Big Bear Valley and Fontana. Her talents included jewelry design, art editor for a medical magazine, plus an excellent teacher who loved and encouraged young people. She was the artist who painted the seven foot mural at the Bear Valley Community Hospital showing the beautiful seasons of our Bear Valley. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Steve of Fawnskin; four sons: Mark (Jean) Seibel of Tuscon, Ariz., Frank (Dana) Seibel of Willets, Calif., Joe (Donna) Seibel of Oxnard, Calif., and Roch Seibel of Big Bear; two brothers: Bill (Eunice) Picard of Sacramento, Calif., and Rob (Rose Marie) Picard of Van Nuys, Calif., plus 5 grandchildren. She is preceded in passing by her husband, Conrad. Services will be held Sept. 28, 2005, at St. Joseph's Church, 11 a.m., Fr. Michael Krelovich officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, P.O. Box 2557, Big Bear City, CA 92314 in memory of Yvonne Nunez. Yvonne lived this life with dignity and grace. Her joy and spirit was a gift from God and a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
