Born Mary Joan Pierce in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 4, 1932, she attended Broadripple High School and later Purdue University where she met her husband of 50-plus years, Richard Rosborough. They were married in the Indianapolis Broadway Methodist Church on June 20, 1954. Jan joined Richard during his flight training for an Air Force career where they later lived in Athens, Greece; Wiesbaden Germany; and throughout the United States. They raised four children: Kimberly Jo, born on Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, Lybia; David R. born in Wiesbaden, Germany: Larry J. and Kurtis M. both born in Dover, Delaware. Her husband, Richard, retired from the USAF as a Lieutenant Colonel at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada, in June 1974 after a career of 21 years. They then lived in Las Vegas for 24 years where Richard taught in college while Jan helped her daughter Kimberly teach elementary school. Richard and Jan moved to Big Bear City, Calif., in 1995 where they have been active in the Community Arts Theater Society (CATS) and Richard sings barbershop harmony. Jan has a brother, Rusty Pierce, living in Falls Church, Va., and five grandchildren: Kimberly's daughters Kristy, Tammy, and David's children David, Ashley and Bradley. Jan's cremated remains will be placed in the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nev. There will be a family memorial service at the cemetery chapel at a time to be determined.
