He ran his store full time until a week before his death. Page was born in San Francisco in 1914. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Sydney, Australia. At the age of 24, Page returned to the U.S. to study aircraft design at Curtis Wright Aircraft School in Los Angeles. He worked in the aircraft industry for several years and then in aerospace for companies such as Lockheed, McDonnel-Douglas and Rockwell. His last job before retirement in 1980 was as a liaison engineer on the Apollo 1 space shuttle. He always sold motorcycles on the side and at several points had his own motorcycle shops in Sacramento, Oakland and Boulder, Colo. He was the national distributor for Panther Motorcycles for a number of years. Page opened York Cycle Sales in the 1970s and went into the business full time after 1980. His is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Janet York. Page is survived by his daughter, Pamela York Emberg; sister, Betty York of Vancouver, B.C., and his dear friend, Elizabeth Provis, and three grandchildren. The memorial service will be Friday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, Northshore Dr., Big Bear Lake.
