Their goal was to create an accurate survey of the gravesites for use by researchers and historians. Over the course of about four weeks, the group gathered data using ground penetrating radar; technology used to find oil and mineral deposits. The group searched for old bones and coffins as well as bits of metal that could be buttons or crucifixes. Through their findings, the scientists were able to identify the location of several gravesites as well as verify the position of graves outside the current walls.
