History: Vallecito Stage Staion is a Historic Landmark (# 304)1852 the house was built by James R. Lassater as a stopping place for those making the long journey to southern California, 1857 the house became a station on the San Diego-San Antonio mail route, in 1858 the house became a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail Route.
