San Diego Union, March 5, 1898 FUNERAL OF PHILIP SCHOTT Services at Methodist Church. Funeral at Mt. Hope. The funeral of the late Philip Schott was held yesterday at the First Methodist church, Rev. E.A. Healy officiating. Many friends of the family were present, and the floral tributes were numerous and handsome. Music was furnished by Mrs. W.S. Young and members of the church choir. Rev. Mr. Healy also officiated at the grave. The pall- bearers were B.L. Muir, J.S. Schiller, J.P. Smith, L. Price, Arthur Gaylord of Santa Monica, and Frederick Bennett. The death of Mr. Schott, which was the result of brain trouble, was a great shock to all his acquaintances. He had always enjoyed good health untill only a few weeks before his death. Mr. Schott possessed a noble character, under all circumstances being sympath- etic and charitable. He was a home-loving man, the constant companion of his wife and sons, and their sorrow over his death was most poignant. Besides the widow and three sons, Walter and Victor Schott of this city and Sidney Schott of Witchita, all of whome were present at the funeral, the deceased leaves a brother who is engaged in the banking business in London, and a sister, Madams Bouwens van der Boyen, of Paris.
