C. Wolfe, Editor HANNA, Edward Joseph: Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Francisco. Office, 1100 Franklin Street. Was ordained Roman Catholic Priest at Chicago, Illinois in 1885. He was educated at the Rochester, New York, Free Academy, the University of Cambridge, England, and at the University of Munich, and at Rome. Was appointed Archbishop of San Francisco. California. June 1, 1915. He was born at Rochester, New York, July 21, 1860, the son of Edward and Anne Hanna. Was professor of theology at St. Bernard's Seminary from 1893 to 1912: was Coadjutor Archbishop of San Francisco in 1907. Pope Pius X appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco in 1912 and he was consecrated Bishop of Tetopolis in December of the same year. Archbishop Hanna was made Commissioner of Immigration of California in September, 1913, and he is President of the National Catholic Welfare Conference. Residence, 1000 Fulton Street.
