Wolfe, Editor HEARST, William Randolph: Publisher of international repute, and former Congressman from the Eleventh District of New York- elected in 1903 and serving until 1907, was born in San Francisco, son of the late United State Senator George Hearst and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and attended Harvard University from 1882 to 1885. Leaving Harvard, he became editor, and later proprietor of the San Francisco Examiner. Among the Hearst chain of newspapers and magazines are the following: San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Call and Post: Oakland Post-Enquirer; Los Angeles Examiner; Los Angeles Evening Herald; Seattle Post-Intelligencer; Fort Worth Record; San Antonio Light: Chicago Herald and Examiner; Chicago Evening American; Wisconsin News; Milwaukee Sentinel and Sunday Telegraph: Detroit Times; Atlanta Georgian-American: Washington Times; Washington Herald; Baltimore American; Baltimore News; New York American; New York Evening Journal; New York Daily Mirror: Rochester Journal-American; Syracuse Telegram-American; Albany Times-Union; Boston American; Boston Advertiser. Magazines: Good Housekeeping; Motor: Motor Boating; Hearst's International combined with Cosmopolitan; Harper's Bazaar; Smart Set; Nash's Magazine (London). In 1905 was Democratic candidate for Mayor of New York City on Municipal Ownership ticket, and again in 1909 on the Independence League ticket. Was candidate for governorship of New York in 1906, running on the Independence League and Democratic tickets. Married Millicent Wilson, daughter of George H. Wilson, of New York. April 28th, 1903. They reside at 137 Riverside Drive, New York City.
