FRANK W. WARREN was distinguished in San Francisco business circles by the fidelity and length of his long and efficient service with one organization. In 1879, when he was fourteen years of age, he went to work for the mercantile establishment of O'Connor, Moffatt & Company. With that firm and organization his duties continued until the very end of his life, in a steadily increasing measure of responsibilities. Captain Warren was born in San Francisco, in 1865, member of a pioneer family. His education was acquired in the public schools and he left school to become office boy for the company. His services continued for over half a century, up to the date of his death on December 16, 1929, and he took a justifiable degree of personal pride in his being the oldest employee of the company, and he rejoiced in every step or progress taken by that organization. Every other person connected with the firm and thousands of its patrons knew and esteemed this quiet business man, and he was able to call every employee by the first name. One of the happiest experiences of his entire service for the company came only the day before his death, when in a happy speech to the president of the firm he presented a magnificent bronze clock to the store as a symbol of the loyalty of its workers. Captain Warren derived his military title from his service in the Philippines following the Spanish-American war. He was in the army about two years, and went to the Philippines as captain of the Ninety-first Division, his place being retained for him in the company at San Francisco. Captain Warren was a popular member of the Olympic Club, the Elks Club, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Native Sons of the Golden West. For many years he did work as a buyer for the firm, his duties compelling him to make six trips annually from the Pacific Coast to the eastern cities. Just prior to his death he was appointed merchandise manager of the firm. Captain Warren married Wilhelmina Wreden, member of one of California's oldest families. Her father was the late Henry M. Wreden, who died in 1927, and her mother was Emma (Albers) Wreden. Her grandfather was one of the pioneer brewers of the Pacific Coast and was active in that business for over fifty years. Her father owned the Wreden Breweries and her mother is now president of the Wreden Brewery Company and a member of the board of directors of the Acme Breweries, a group of five plants. Captain Warren is survived by Mrs. Warren and their one son, Francis Wreden Warren. By a previous marriage he is the father of four children, Mrs. F. E. Delger, Mrs. Walter T. Varney, Mrs. Wallace McC. White and Frank D. Warren.
