Letter from Paul LERNER to Alice JIRASEK dated Apr 2, 1931 Alameda Calif., Apr 2, 1931 Dearest Alice, I'm just about ready to fall asleep, infact I dozed off a couple of times already to-night, but a promised you a letter to-night and I can't go back on my promise. Did you get home alright last night? "Sweetheart" I certainly enjoyed myself last night and I hope that you enjoyed yourself as much as I did. We caught the twelve-fifteen boat and on the boat both of us slept all the way over; as you see for once we didn't have to have coffee and cake. We got home at ten minutes to one which was much earlier than I really expected. I wanted to call you up to-day but we were out all day and I didn't get a chance. I won't be able to call up for the rest of the week, because weve got a couple of jobs that will keep us busy on the outside; so Alice "Dear" I hope that this letter will be sufficient news for this week. But there won't be much news because I can't think of what to say. Youve known that for a long time already, haven't you? I got these pictures of Fritz's and Im going to get them made tomorrow. There are only three of them, but they turned out pretty good. I'm sorry that I can't send them to you know, but I'll bring them down to you Sunday. Remember about the eleventh? Well I saw Fritz to-night, and he said that he would like to call it off and go hiking on Sunday instead. What do you think about it? Well we can make that out Sunday when I come down. And to me, "Sweetheart," Sunday is a long way off before I can see you. Somehow or other I managed to get on the second page. I didn't think that I would get this far, but you know if you put your mind on something you can always accomplish it. I hope thats true, because I've put my mind on something and I hope that I'll be able to accomplish it pretty soon. I'll be seeing you Sunday morning then. And "Sweetheart" dont forget your drivers lesson. Some day you'll have to learn and theres no time like the present to start in . I hope I don't forget those Yosemite circulars for you. Ive got them all out and ready, but it would be just like me to forget them. Well Alice "Darling" I guess that this is just about the end. And by the way I'm wide awake now. That's because I'm thinking of you and I'm thinking hard. And Loving You "Sweetheart," Loving You more than anything else. But Ive got to close now and all that I can do between now and Sunday is to send to You my "Darling," all my Love and all my Kisses. Yours forever and always Paul
