He was been gradually sinking for several days, death resulting from a mere decay of nature His remains are lying in state at Pioneer's Hall. The funeral takes place on Tuesday afternoon. Since the last change in the trustees of his charitable fund, deceasd had frequenly expressed himself better satisfied with the co?ulition of affairs, but has manifested considerable concern at hearing nothing from his son, John Lick, of Fredricksburg, Lebanon county, Penn., to who both letters and telegrams had been sent requesting his resignation as one of the trustees. All the rest of the old board have tendered resignations, though they have not yet been confirmed by the court. The trustees say that the business is in such a shape that no complications can ensue in carring out Lick's charitble designs though there issome fear expressed that the action of John Lick implies the intention of contesting the matter in the courts. The total value of the trust fund is estimated at about $5,000,000. Philadelphia, Oct. 4. -- John Lick, son of the late James Lick, passed through this city Monday evening. A "Times" reporter attempted to interview him as to his intentions concerning his father's will, but with little effect. He stated that he would start that night for San Francisco, and when he got there, he knew what he was going to do, and as the reporter states, showed that he had a good deal of firmness of character and could, in the way of bargain, ca??? on the ninth part of a hair.
