Morning Oregonian August 5, 1904
San Fransisco,Aug.4- John Martin,president of the North Shore 
Railroad,resigned today at a meeting of the directors,and Arthur W.Foster was 
elected as his successor.This is understood to indicate that the consolidation 
of the North Shore and California & Northwestern roads has commenced,and that 
the two lines will be operated by General Manager J.L.Frazer,of the California 
& Northwestern,formerly a Southern Pacific official.
