Sacramento Daily Union, January 16, 1861
“Death of an Irish Exile. 
San Francisco, January l5th. Terence Bellew McManus, the Irish exile, who 
escaped from Botany Bay and arrived here in 1851, died yesterday [January 14], 
in St. Mary's Hospital. He was one of the leaders of the revolution in 1848. He 
was the compatriot of Smith O'Brien, Thomas Francis Meagher and Donohue.” END
