Hon. C. B. Porter died at his residence in this city, Clay and Baker streets, yesterday, in his seventy-seventh year. He was born in Taunton, Mass., on November 29, 1817, and came to California in 1849. He was elected to the Assembly in 1860 from Contra Costa County, and was twice elected to the Senate from Contra Costa and Marin counties. He was the author of the Porter primary election law, and for many years he was associated with R. R. Bunker in publishing the Contra Costa Gazette. Deceased leaves a widow [Annie Williamson], three sons, Bruce, Charles and Robert, and three daughters, Mrs. W[illiam] S. Tinning [Miriam Porter] of Martinez, Mrs. E[rnest] E.
