“DIED. Near Crystal Springs, San Mateo county, California, October 28th [29?], 
Judge Tod Robinson, of San Francisco, a native of North Carolina, aged 58 years 
and 7 months.” END

Daily Alta California, October 30, 1870 (Sunday).  Page 1, Column 3.
“Death of Tod Robinson — The friends of the Hon. Tod Robinson will be pained to 
learn of his death, which occurred near Crystal Springs, San Mateo County, 
yesterday forenoon [October 29]. Mr. Robinson was a native of Anson county, 
North Carolina, and was born in 1812. In September, 1870, [1850?] be emigrated 
to California from Texas, and at once devoted himself to the practice of his 
profession— the law— which he has followed ever since. Mr. Robinson held the 
position of Judge of the Sixth Judicial District, to which he was appointed by 
Gov. Burnett, subsequently he received the nomination for Supreme Judge from 
the Whig Party, but was defeated. He has also received nominations for 
important judicial positions at the hands of the Democratic Party, of which he 
was a staunch supporter, but failed to be elected. Gov. Haight appointed Mr. 
Robinson about one year since Supreme Court Reporter which position he held at 
the time of his death. Deceased was esteemed by those who knew him for his 
social qualities and irreproachable character. One of his sons is a member of 
the law firm of Jarboe, Harrison & Robinson. He leaves a large family and a 
host of friends to mourn his loss.” END
