San Francisco Call, January 11, 1899
“The wedding of John W. Brooks of Chicago and Miss Winifred Cole was celebrated 
at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Foster Cole, 1707 Gough 
street, yesterday afternoon [January 10]. The affair was a very quiet one, only 
the two immediate families and a limited number of personal friends being 
present. Mr. Brooks is well known in business circles in this city and is a 
prominent member of the Press and Union League Clubs. He has but recently moved 
to Chicago. His bride is the daughter of Foster Cole of the California 
Furniture Company. Immediately after the ceremony the young couple took a train 
for Chicago, where they will make their home.” END
