Born in Oakland, Mr. Abrew was raised in San Leandro and graduated from San Leandro High School. He worked many years in real estate and the lending industry in Dublin. He then became a contractor and started his own construction company, Abrew Construction, with his son, Kevin. They were members of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. He had previously been a member of St. Raymond’s Men’s Club and was a state champion of the National Quick Draw Club. He was also an avid collector. A member of Templo de la Cruz Church, Mr. Abrew enjoyed praising the Lord and learning the word of God. He had a special place in his heart for the church’s missionaries. His grandchildren and his wife, Pearl, were the light and love of his life. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Kauai, Hawaii, where he made wonderful memories with his family. Mr. Abrew is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pearl Abrew of Dublin; children, Debbie George, and her husband, Bruce, of Tracy, Jeff Abrew, and his wife, Becky, of San Jose, Greg Abrew, and his wife, Brenda, of Oroville and Kevin Abrew, and his wife, Shannon, of Dublin; brothers, Ken Abrew of Brentwood and Glenn Abrew of Arizona; and 13 grandchildren, including Jennifer Jones of Baton Rouge, La., Colleen Jones of Stockton, Jill Trevino, and her husband, Gabriel, of San Antonio and Lauren Jones of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Linda Abrew. Monday’s evening service will begin at 7 p.m. at Sorensen Bros. Mortuary, 1140 B St., in Hayward. Tuesday’s funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at Templo de la Cruz, 24362 Thomas Ave., in Hayward. Visitation will be observed from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sorensen Bros. Mortuary. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., in Hayward.
