Helen Vlandis

May 22, 1929 — Nov. 7, 2005

Services will be Thursday for longtime Tracy resident Helen Vlandis, 76, who 
died Monday at Piners Nursing Home in Napa.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Vlandis lived in Tracy 60 years before moving to 
Napa a year ago. She and her husband, Pete, operated Pete’s Liquor Store on 
11th Street 30 years. She was a member of St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church in 
Stockton and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed horseback 
riding, was an avid traveler and attended Shriners functions with her husband. 
Mrs. Vlandis enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her 
grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother 
and friend to many.

Mrs. Vlandis is survived by her son, John Vlandis, and his wife, Rebecca, of 
Yountville; daughter-in-law, Stacey Vlandis of Tracy; siblings, Nick Alexiou, 
and his wife, Sophie, of Lincoln and Mary Rores of Castro Valley; and 
grandchildren, Gracie and Camille Vlandis, both of Yountville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Vlandis; and son, Paul Vlandis.

Thursday’s services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. 
Central Ave. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the 
chapel, followed immediately by a trisagion service. Interment will be in 
Tracy Cemetery. 

Contributions in Mrs. Vlandis’ name may be sent to St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox 
Church, 920 W. March Lane, Stockton 95207.
