Born on May 19, 1912 in Shelbyville, TN, she was a homemaker for 70 years. Louise's family came to California when Louise was three years old. She and her 5 sibling grew up in Delano and Dinuba, CA. she attended San Jose State College as an Art major before marrying Ralph Allen in 1936 and moving to Stockton. Louise will mostly be remembered for her artistic expression in the form of her beautiful hand-weaving. She also did oil painting, ceramics and needle work. She was an avid swimmer and loved hiking in her younger years. Louise was a member of Stockton Weaver's Guild and took weaving classes, painting and ceramics at Delta College. Louise was a lifelong Methodist, always dedicated to the work of her church, participating fully in church activities with Ralph. They joined Central United Methodist Church when it was downtown and were active in Sunday School, the choir and Louise was part of the United Methodist Women's organization. When they moved to Soulsbyville and the Columbia, CA after Ralph's retirement in 1971, they became very active in the Evangelical Free Church of Twain Harte and then the Church of the 49ers in Columbia. They returned to Stockton in 1997 to be near family and Central United Methodist Church. Louise was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Ralph A. Allen after 69 years of marriage. Loving mother of Margaret L. (Daniel) Estrada of Stockton and David R. (Linda) Allen of Santa Rosa. Grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 10. Sister of David Middleton of Castro Valley. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Central United Methodist Church. Max Carroll of Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions to either Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 3700 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204 or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204 are preferred.
