Born in Arkansas, Mrs. Ames lived in Tracy 65 years and owned orchards on MacArthur and Etcheverry drives. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. She was also a homemaker. She loved gardening, canning fruit and dancing. She enjoyed socializing with friends and traveling. She will be remembered as a loving grandmother and friend to many. Mrs. Ames is survived her siblings, Raymond Wilson of Georgia, Juanita Wilson of New York, Marjorie Schreiner of New Hampshire and James Wilson of Maryland; grandchildren, Janell Funamori of Tracy/Seattle and Tina Correll of Redmond, Wash.; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, Bernard Ames; and son, Bob McMillan. Today’s graveside service will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road. Memorial donations in Mrs. Ames’ name may be sent to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128.
