Armendariz Augustin (Gus) M. Armendariz, 84, passed away on July 20, 2005 in Davis. He was born on June 5, 1921 in Los Angeles and has lived in Davis for the past six months and prior to that he lived in Acampo for 20 years. He was the first in his family to attend college, he went to the University of California at Davis and played football there as well. He worked for Hills Brothers Coffee, as an accountant and retired in 1985 after 38 years of service. He also served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was active in SIRS where he served as the Big SIR and Area Governor as well as being Resident Committee President for the Arbor Mobile Home Park. He is survived by his son, Tony Armendariz of Santa Maria; daughter, Sandy Mansfield-Higgins of Davis; grandchildren, Carol Melendez, Scott Armendariz, Jack Armendariz, Julia Higgins, Shelly Armendariz and Adria Armendariz. He is preceded in death by his two wives, Barbara and Lydia; brother, Paul Armendariz. He will be laid to rest privately at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. No visitation will be held. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 24th at 4:00 p.m. at the Alumni Center at the University of California at Davis. In lieu of flowers donations mey be made to Yolo Hospice at P.O.
