He was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Wilton, N.D., where he was raised. Mr. Baranick served in the Army-Airforce during World War II and was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines, until his honorable discharge. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where he studied architecture. He then owned and operated the family gas station/grocery store in Wilton. He and his family moved to Lodi in 1973, where he was employed by General Mills until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed art and was an avid sports fan in his younger years. Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling by motorhome and fishing with his wife. He also enjoyed spending summers in the mountains and winters in the desert. Joseph Baranick He is survived by his wife, Jennie Baranick; and daughter, Tina Lopez. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Baranick. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. A reception will follow. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
