Bautista, 88, of Lodi, died Nov. 7 in a local convalescent hospital. She was born Mar. 22, 1917, in the Philippines. Mrs. Bautista was employed as a beautician for many years in the Philippines. She and her husband moved to Southern California in 1977 and settled in Glendora. She relocated to Lodi in 1995. While in the Philippines, she served as president of the Legion of Mary with the Catholic Church, where she sponsored her nephew to become a priest. She attended St. Anne's Catholic Church in Lodi and the Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Church in Thornton. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and vegetables, and doing volunteer work. She also enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Bautista was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Bautista, in 1979. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Doeleman, of Maui, Hawaii, Luz Fernandez, of Los Angeles, Fe Melano, of Lodi and Emma Montilla, of Lodi; sons, Wilfredo Bautista, of Philippines, and Victor Bautista, of Los Angeles; brother, Miguel Samsona, of Philippines; sister, Veronica S. Tabuyan, of Philippines; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Friday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St., Lodi, with Father Nathan White and Father Jose Bantolo officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories at Cherokee Memorial Park. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near Beckman Road, Lodi.
