Stockton Daily Independent (Stockton, California), 15 Sep 1870.
Sudden Death of an Estimable Citizen

Thomas Brock a well known resident of this city, died suddenly at Sacramento on
the evening of the 13th instant. He went to the State Fair to exhibit some
Angora goats. While at the Fairgrounds he complained of a pain in his arm, and
returned to his lodging at the Fountain House on J Street. In the evening he
complained of being worse and directed that a physician be sent for, but before
medical aid could be procured, Mr. Brock expired.
