Mr. Buchholz was born Jan. 11, 1940 in Woodland to John and Frieda Buchholz. He was a life-long Woodland resident. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1958 and received an Associate of Arts in Fire Science from American River College. He also served in the U.S. Navy. For 15 years, he served as captain of the Willow Oak Fire Department and worked at Car Quest Auto Parts Store in Woodland for 12 years. Survivors include Mr. Buchholz's wife of 39 years, Helen Buchholz of Woodland; his daughter, Belinda Loney and her husband Phil of Crescent City; his grandchildren, Angela, Lauren, Alyssabeth and Owen Loney of Crescent City; his brother, Dale Buchholz and his wife Pat of Woodland; his nieces and nephews, Connie Leek, Marty Allred, Marj Gee, Fay Angel and their families, all of Sacramento, Kay, Curtis and Tab Buchholz and their families of Washington, Pam Kaw and family of Temecula; Gaylene Sanderson of Biggs, Duane Buchholz and family of Atascadero, Steven Buchholz of Woodland, Wesley Fiedler and family of North Carolina, Rachel Pack of Ventura, Leilani Mietzner and family of Idaho; his grandnieces and grandnephews, Brittany and Bailey Leek of Sacramento and Billy Ray and Justen Buchholz of Washington. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Ashley Hart; his parents; his brothers, Jim and Colemen Buchholz; and his nephews, Jeff Buchholz and Coleman "Bub" Buchholz Jr. The family requests flowers and plants in memory of Mr. Buchholz to be delivered to Celebration Center Church of the Nazarene for the service. If unable to deliver to the church, the family requests that flowers be given to the donor's loved one in his memory. Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Celebration Center Church of the Nazarene, 100 Woodland Ave., Woodland with Pastor Robert Hardgrave officiating. A reception will be held at Willow Oak Hall on County Road 97 following the memorial. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
