Grace Buchmiller
Grace G. Buchmiller, 96, of Lodi, died Nov. 8 in a local convalescent hospital. 
She was born Grace Benedict on Oct. 26, 1909, in Bowdon, N.D., where she was 
raised and attended school south of Bowdon.

Mrs. Buchmiller married John Buchmiller in 1928 in Fessenden, N.D., and they 
made their home on a farm south of Bowdon, where they farmed for 21 years for 
three different farms. She and her husband bought a cafe in Bowdon, and then 
moved to Goodrich and bought another cafe. She and her family moved to Lodi in 
1955, where she was employed as a nurse by Lodi Community and Lodi Memorial 
Hospitals for 13 years until her retirement in 1968. She enjoyed having 
children around her, playing the piano, sewing, knitting and crocheting. 

She is survived by her son, Orville Buchmiller, of Lodi; daughter, Janice 
Brandt-Rackley, of Lodi; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 16 great-
grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Buchmiller in 1983; son, Russell 
Buchmiller; daughter, Patty Vilhauer; and sister, Blanche Schultz.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Garden of Last Supper 
at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, with Pastor Larry 
Beck of Bethel Open Bible Church officiating. There will be no visitation.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
