Vennie L. Burchett

Oct. 4, 1925 — Feb. 2, 2006

Services will be Tuesday for longtime Tracy resident Vennie L. Burchett, 80, 
who died Thursday at Tracy Convalescent Hospital.

Mrs. Burchett was born in Hulbert, Okla. She moved to Tracy in 1946 where she 
was a cook for Tracy Unified School District from 1963 to 1987. She was a 
member of Tracy First United Methodist Church, Janie Ellen Circle and Tracy 
Woman’s Club. She was a volunteer at Lolly Hansen Senior Center and Delta 
Blood Bank. Mrs. Burchett loved playing and organizing dinners for all the 
church functions. She also enjoyed making handcrafts, and cooking for family 
and friends, and it was their tradition to go to the Burchett home for 
Christmas Eve.

Mrs. Burchett is survived by her husband of 59 years, Cecil Burchett of Tracy; 
daughter, Shirley Malonee, and her husband, Del, of Monterey; grandchildren, 
Lynsie Malonee of Monterey, Rick Malonee of Edmond, Okla., and Sherrie Brooks 
of Altadena; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Clifton Burchett, and his wife, 
Irene, and Neomia Mallory, all of Tracy, Frances Carr of Hemet, Harold 
Burchett, and his wife, Phyllis, of Columbus, Ohio, and Kathryn Burchett of 
Lathrop.

Tuesday’s services will begin at 11 a.m. at Tracy First United Methodist 
Church, 1610 East St. Visitation will be observed from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at 
Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Burchett’s name may be sent to Tracy First 
United Methodist Church, 330 Acacia St., Tracy 95376.
