Bauer William R. Bauer, 88, of Redding and formerly of Lodi, born Dec. 30, 1916, in Jamestown, N.D. Mr. Bauer was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corp in North Dakota. He moved to Oakland with his family in 1942, where he was employed by DeSoto Chemical Co. in Berkeley in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1968. He lived in El Sobrante for approximately 15 years, before relocating to Lodi. He lived in Lodi for 12 years and then settled in Redding. He enjoyed fishing, square dancing, playing cards and checkers, gardening, bowling and listening to Lawrence Welk. William Bauer He experimented in raising chinchillas and owned race horses for many years. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Vaughn, Linda Nail; son, Larry Bauer; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Bauer; son Richard Bauer; and daughter, Barbara Little. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Entombment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
