Mr. Beardsley was a longtime Stockton resident. He was a WWII Army Veteran (95th Division) and a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Jim was a member and past president of the San Joaquin Historical Society and, in his retirement, helped to develop the "Monday Mechanics" who specialize in the preservation and maintenance of historic tractors. He graduated from Covina High School, class of 1942 and earned his B.S. degree at U.C. Davis in 1951, where he held office in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He later earned a Masters Degree. Mr. Beardsley began his teaching career in 1951 at Stockton Junior College, now San Joaquin Delta College, where he taught in the Agriculture Department and his interest in antique tractors grew. He was the beloved husband of Genevieve Beardsley of Stockton, married 56 years. Devoted father of Patty Beardsley Holden and husband, Jeff, of San Jose and Catherine Beardsley Richards and husband, John, of Westport, CT. Loving grandfather of Jacquelyn B. Richards and Jennifer C. Richards. Dear nephew of Olivia King of Montclair, CA. He will be remembered always for his devotion to family, his love of history and collecting and his ready kindness to others. Services: A private family Funeral Service will be held at the graveside. There will be no visitation. Committal: San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, near the statue of the Holy Family. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA. is in charge of arrangements.
