Lena Beck 
Lena Beck, 90, of Lodi, died July 27 in Lodi. She was born Lena Horst on March 
15, 1915, in Butler, Okla.

Mrs. Beck was raised in Oklahoma and later married Clifford Beck in 1935. In 
1937, she and her husband moved to Lodi. She was a cannery worker for over 35 
years in Lodi and Thornton. 

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lodi Garden Club and the 
United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She especially 
enjoyed her family and caring for them.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Beck, of Modesto, and Russell Beck, of 
Stockton; daughters, Sharron Rains, of San Gabriel and Janet Beck, of Modesto; 
sister, Marie Dewees, of Clinton, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-
grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Clifford Beck in 2005; 
and thirteen siblings.

A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church 
with the Rev. Dr. Alan Kimber officiating. Committal will be private. 
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. 
Oak St., Lodi, CA 95240; or to Heifer International, 2015 J. St., Suite 106, 
Sacramento, CA 95814.
