Katie Bitzer 
Katie Bitzer, 100, of Lodi, died Aug. 20 in Lodi. She was born Katie Dollinger 
on Nov. 27, 1904, in Bowdle, S.D.

Mrs. Bitzer married William Edward Bitzer in 1926 and they moved to California 
in 1935. 

She worked as a certified nurses aid for over 30 years, and worked at 
Bechtold's Rest Home, which became Vienna Convalescent Hospital. She was a 
member of Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, 
canning and gardening.





Katie Bitzer
She is survived by her son, Richard Bitzer, of Discovery Bay; four 
grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Bitzer in 1994; sons, 
Calvin Bitzer in 2004, an infant son, Lowell Bitzer; an infant daughter, Lois 
Bitzer; nine sisters, two brothers and one adopted brother.

A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Lodi Funeral Home. Committal 
will follow. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday, 
and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loma Linda University 
Medical Center, c/o division of Medical Oncology, 11234 Anderson St., Room MC-
1531, Loma Linda, CA 92354.
