He was born in Inglewood, Ca., where he also graduated from Washington High School. He later attended University of the Pacific in Stockton, USC in Los Angeles, and graduated from UCLA where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Ron was a mortgage banker and worked in commercial real estate for Coldwell Banker, Aetna, Chazen Construction, and Charter House Investments. Ron raised his family in Valencia, Ca. before moving to Palm Desert, and later to Stockton. His love of travel and adventure took him to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. He enjoyed motorcycling, golf, skiing, camping, hiking, but he especially loved sailing the coast of Southern California. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Burns, his wife Agatha "Ada" Helena Burns. He is survived by their two sons, Timothy Burns of Irvine Ca. and Robert Burns of San Francisco. Ron is also survived by his wife Shirley Burns of Stockton, his parents William and Benobie "Perkie" Burns of Lodi, and his sister, Colleen Bingaman, also of Lodi. Ron was a gentle and kind man, loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, taken from us too soon. He will be greatly missed. At his request there will be no services but a private Celebration of Life. Contributions may be made in Ron's name to the Lance Armstrong Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
