Maria Cardoso 
Maria Cardoso, 74, of Galt, died Aug. 23 in her home following a lengthy battle 
with cancer. She was born Maria Eugenia Cardiero on Mar. 16, 1931, in Azores.

Mrs. Cardoso lived in the Galt area for 36 years and was a homemaker. 

She was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Fernando Cardoso, of Galt; sisters, Valentina 
Vargas, Herondina Silva, and Hilda Braga, all of San Leandro; and brother, 
William Cordiero, of Hillmar.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 
26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at 
St. Christopher's Church in Galt. Mass will follow with Father Jerry Ryle 
officiating.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to rosary time Saturday at the church.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
