She was born in Manteca and graduated from Humphreys College in Stockton. Retired from Human Services SJC as a Supervisor of Med Support after 30 years. She relished traveling, quilting, ceramics and celebrating special family occasions. She exemplified the mother and grandmother that all our hearts would cherish. Survivors: her husband, James Underwood; mother, Alice June Hiles of Modesto; five children, Janelle D. Wilson of Portola, Sam and Bonnie Hutchens of Sacramento, Jaydene and Thomas Gardner of San Leandro, Lynn and Dennis Tuttle of Eugene, OR., Jim Underwood of Hawaii. Janice Underwood was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren, Walton, Clifford Hughes, Joshua and Misty Hiles, Samuel Jr., Caleb and Natalie Hutchens, Ryan Tuttle, Craig Alan, Aaron and Faith Underwood; great-grandmother of two, Toran and Alaina Tuttle; brother, Alfred and Irene Rice of Sacramento; sisters, Alice and Bob Larson of Cotati, Ruth and Leland Ullmann of Bakersfield, Judy and Bill Hill of Stockton. Memorial Services will be held on April 2, 2005, at 12:00 p.m. at Grace Assembly of God, 3040 E. Fremont St., Stockton, CA. 95206. Memorial contributions: Hospice of Sacramento.
