William Chevalier 
William Theresia Chevalier, 70, of Galt, died May 7 in a Sacramento hospital. 
He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Bandung, Indonesia.

Mr. Chevalier lived in the Netherlands in 1946 following the war. He immigrated 
to the U.S. in 1965, and settled in Fremont. He was employed by Ameron and 
Qumie as a professional engineer until his retirement at the age of 50. 
Following his retirement, he worked as a general contractor and as a tax 
preparer. In 2004, he relocated to Galt to be near his family. He enjoyed 
traveling with his siblings, and visited Europe and Indonesia in addition to 
traveling with the Elder Hostel to Surinam, Costa Rica and Indonesia. He was an 
avid stamp and model train collector. 

He is survived by his daughters, Terry Chevalier, of Galt and Sandra Chevalier, 
of Stockton; sons, Rex Chevalier and Andrew Chevalier, both of Stockton; 
sisters, Catharina Maria (Toos), of Maastricht, Netherlands, and Marga 
Vandenburg, of Haarlem, Netherlands; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Almhyra Schenkhuizen Chevalier in 1985.

A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the 
Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont. A Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy 
Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's 
Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral 
home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's 
Hospital of Oakland.

Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels is in charge of arrangements.
