A native of Venango, Neb., she moved to Oakdale in 1938 and to Tracy in 1948. She was chief bookkeeper at the Tracy Press in the 1950s and early ’60s and later was a biomed secretary at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before retiring in 1980. Mrs. Douglas had been a member of the Tracy Woman’s Club. She was known as an excellent cook and seamstress who loved to travel. She enjoyed a lifetime hobby of refinishing antique furniture. Known as “Granny” by family members, co-workers and friends, Mrs. Douglas was an avid reader who loved to play golf, cards and games. She never forgot a birthday, sending cards to family members and friends for more than 50 years, said her daughter, Joan Rickman. Mrs. Douglas is survived by her daughter, Joan Rickman, and her husband, John C., of Tracy; siblings, Hugh Newell of Coupeville, Wash., Beulah Rhinehart, and her husband, Robert, of Napa; grandchildren, Karen Mizuno, John P. Rickman and Molly Rickman, all of Tracy, Thomas Rickman of Susanville, Robin Rickman of Redding, and Donald and Meghan Horrigan, and Sheelagh and John Carleton, all of Sunnyvale; great-grandchildren, Ricky and Marie Mizuno, Ryan and Riley Rickman, Kelli Rae and Bonnie Marie Rickman, Colby Horrigan and Mayzie Carleton; daughter-in-law, Suzie Horrigan of Sunnyvale; a sister-in-law, Thelma Douglas of Tracy; and a brother-in-law, Lindsey Douglas of Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and Melvin Newell; husbands William Horrigan and Hunter Douglas; a son, Patrick Horrigan; and a brother, Harold Newell. No services are planned. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery. The Neptune Society is handling arrangements. Contributions in Mrs. Douglas’ name may be sent to the Tracy Woman’s Club Scholaship Fund, P.O.
