J D Downs

April 21, 1928 — Nov. 8, 2005

Services will be Monday for Korean War veteran J D Downs, 77, who died Tuesday 
at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Born in Berryville, Ark., Mr. Downs lived in Tracy for the past 52 years and 
was a heavy-duty truck driver with Pacific Gas and Electric Co., in Livermore, 
for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean 
War. He liked to fish and record classic movies. He loved spending time with 
his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a very 
generous and giving person.

Mr. Downs is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy A. Downs; children, Jay 
Downs, and his wife, Mary, of Modesto, Bobby Downs of Tracy, Christopher 
Downs, and his wife, Beverly, of Tracy; grandchildren, Justin Downs of 
Stockton, Travis Downs of Modesto, Chris Silveira of Tracy, Nickalous Silveira 
of Tracy and Jamie Downs of Stockton; and great-granddaughter, Karlie Downs of 
Stockton.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Silveira.

Monday’s services will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. 
Central Ave. Visitation will be observed from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. 
Internment will be in Tracy Cemetery.
