Charles William Denney, 86, of Lodi, died April 19 at a Stockton care center following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Leedley, Okla. The Rev. Denney commenced his ministry at an early age, and his career spanned over four and a half decades. He served as pastor at many churches in Stockton, Corcorran, and Spiro and Poteau, Okla. Following his retirement, he remained an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his daughter, Karen A. O'Neel, of Lodi; brothers, Alfred and Orville Denney, both of Arnold, and Larry Denney, of Lodi; sisters, Ethel Butler, of Lodi, and LaVonna Turner, of Stockton; one granddaughter and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Juanita Denney in 1997; and grandson, Nathan Crawford in 1986. Services will be private. Committal will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Okla. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary in Stockton is in charge of arrangements.
