Mr. Faszer was born April 14, 1930, in Lehr, North Dakota. In addition to North Dakota, during his childhood he lived in various locations in Michigan, Washington state, and California. He graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1948. He married Annettte Wohl on September 8, 1956 at Emanuel American Lutheran Church in Lodi. He worked as a carpenter in residential construction with his father, John and brother, Don, as John Faszer & Son. In 1974, he obtained his contractor’s license and worked in general construction. In 1979, he incorporated as Charles J. Faszer, Inc., and continued working in commercial and industrial construction. His son, Stephen, began working for the family business in 1982, and they continued to work together until the time of Charles’s death. Mr. Faszer was born and raised in the Baptist faith. Following his marriage, he became a member of St. Paul’s American Lutheran Church in Lodi and continued to be an active member until the time of his death. One of the significant contributions of his professional life was overseeing the complete renovation of the sanctuary which was completed in 1978. Charles was a part of the initial founding committee for the Lodi group of Habitat for Humanity. As general contractor for the group’s first house constructed in Lodi, on Redwood Street, he was responsible for organizing the initial group of subcontractors, as well as soliciting donations of labor and materials used in constructing the group’s first houses. Early in his adult life, Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with friends and family. His favorite place to be outdoors was at Silver Lake on Highway 88. He was a volunteer who helped build the Silver Lake Chapel, build and dedicated in 1973. Later in life, his pastime of outdoor activities was replaced with a passion for NBA basketball, being an avid fan of the Sacramento Kings and a season ticket holder since 1987. Charles found great joy and pride in his family, especially in the lives of his grandchildren and their growth and accomplishments. To them, Papa Charlie could always be counted on not only as someone you could tease, but more likely someone who would tease you. Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, Annette Faszer of Lodi; sons Christopher Faszer, Stephen Faszer, both of Lodi; sisters Leone Beede of Lodi and Maxine Polkinghorne of Woodland. He leaves also a vast number of extended family and friends whose lives he touched in many ways, both personally and professionally. Charles was preceded in death by his father, John Faszer in 1978, his brother Donald Faszer in 1992, and by his mother, Emma Faszer in 1994.
