Miyo Fukano

Sept. 28, 1896 — Nov. 1, 2005

Services will be private for longtime Tracy resident Miyo Fukano, 109, who 
died Tuesday at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Born in Hiroshima, Japan, Mrs. Fukano came to the United States when she was 
17 years old. She moved to the Central Valley in 1914 and to Tracy in 1954. 
She was a homemaker for 89 years and kept up with her gardening even after her 
100th birthday. She was a member of the Stockton Buddhist Temple and the 
Stockton Buddhist Women’s Association.

Mrs. Fukano is survived by her children, Fred Fukano, and his wife, Holly, of 
Tracy and Richard Fukano of Indiana; four grandchildren; and five great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Tsurumatsu Fukano; and 
her son, Teruo Fukano.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, in Lodi, is handling 
arrangements.
