Nancy J. Gates

April 28, 1951 — Jan. 6, 2006

Services will be Friday for homemaker Nancy J. Gates, 54, who died Jan. 6, 
2006 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Born in Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Gates lived in Tracy 26 years and worked a variety 
of jobs while raising her family. She loved being a homemaker, and her 
specialties were cooking, baking and her homemade spaghetti sauce. She loved 
to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her great sense 
of humor and spontaneous laughter will be missed. She will be remembered as a 
loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. At her request, 
she will be buried in East Line Cemetery in Bishop, alongside her firstborn 
child, Melissa Maria.

Mrs. Gates is survived by her husband of 36 years, Vaughn Gates of Tracy; 
parents, Faust and Katherine Rosa of Silver Springs, Md.; children, Jennifer 
Lee Gates and Matthew Vaughn Gates, both of Tracy, and Jeffrey Cameron Gates 
of Lancaster; sibling, Eric Rosa of Arcadia; and grandchildren, Jeffrey 
Cameron Johnson and Elijah Lauren Johnson, both of Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Maria Gates.

Friday’s services will begin at noon at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central 
Ave. Visitation will be observed from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Interment will be 
in East Line Cemetery in Bishop.

Contributions in Mrs. Gates’ name may be sent to the American Lung Association 
of the Valley Lode Counties, 1231 W. Robinhood Drive, No. A-1, Stockton 95207.
