Gordon Lee Griffith

Sept. 11, 1938 — Feb. 8, 2006

A memorial service will be Saturday for U.S. Army veteran Gordon Lee Griffith, 
67, of Tracy, who died at his home. 

Born in Alameda, Mr. Griffith lived in Tracy 40 years. He worked for Safeway 
stores for 32 years as a food clerk and checker. He was stationed at the 
Presidio in San Francisco and was in the honor guard. He participated in many 
parades and honorary functions throughout the U.S. He also worked for the 
Alameda County Fire Department in Livermore and had the fire truck stationed 
at his home in Midway. For Livermore 4-H, he was the swine leader and helped 
with the Livermore FFA. His main objective was to help the kids to do their 
best and achieve their goals.

Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marianne Griffith of Tracy; 
children, Katie Lee Griffith of Tracy, Cheryl Griffith of Redding and Kevin 
Lee Griffith of Copperopolis; mother, Vera Montgomery of Tracy; siblings, Jack 
Griffith of Garden Valley, Idaho, and Dan and Mike Eberstein, both of 
Livermore; and grandchildren, Kary, Austin, Brett, Kimberlee and Rick 
Griffith, Trent and Weslee Kersey and Grant Herrick.

Saturday’s memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at Wilson Family Funeral 
Chapel, 3070 East Ave., in Livermore. Interment will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday 
at St. Michael Cemetery, 3885 East Ave., in Livermore.
