Tinnie Gunter

April 28, 1918 — March 19, 2006

Graveside services will be Thursday for Tinnie Gunter, 87, who died Sunday at 
Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Born in Conway, Ark., Mr. Gunter and his family moved to Livermore in 1954 
where he lived for 33 years. For the last 19 years, he and his wife, Mary, 
lived at the San Joaquin River Club in Tracy. 

Mr. Gunter loved the outdoors, especially fishing. His hobbies were bowling 
and gardening. He retired from Laborers Union No. 307 after 50 years of 
service. His “gift of gab” was his most memorable trait. If you knew Tinnie, 
you knew a story.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Gunter; children, Kathy 
Mantzoros, and her husband, Bob, of Stockton, LeRoy Gunter, and his wife, 
Carol, of Sacramento; stepdaughter, Gale Duff-Bloom, and her husband, Darryl, 
of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Cyndy, Keith, Sherry, Paul, Dana, Tommy, Chad 
and Lance; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Gunter, in 1982; and a son, 
Herbert Lee Gunter in 2001.

Thursday’s services will begin at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3873 
East Ave., in Livermore. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday 
at Lakeside Chapel at San Joaquin River Club, 30000 Kasson Road. Callaghan 
Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., in Livermore, is handling arrangements. 

Contributions in Mr. Gunter’s name may be sent to the American Diabetes 
Association, 1900 Powell St., Ste. 285, Emeryville 94608.
