He lived in Stockton over 58 years. He was the Food Service Administrator 38 years at San Joaquin General Hospital. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, devoted grandfather, cherished brother and faithful friend. He loved cooking, spending time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and a passionate Alaskan Salmon fly fisherman. Marlin was a member of the Stockton Moose Lodge, Stockton Elks Lodge, Longshoreman Union and "AA" Fast Pitch Softball #1 fan. No one was ever a stranger. Anyone who came in contact with Marlin was treated as a long-time friend. He had an infectious smile; a fiesty disposition, but was nothing but a great big teddy bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Olive Glidewell; step mother Ruth Glidewell; brothers, Reverend Carl Glidewell of Drain, Oregon and Reverend Kenneth Glidewell of San Jose, CA. Marlin is survived by his loving wife, Dora Glidewell of 56 years. He was a devoted father to his four daughters, Sandy Helms and husband, David Helms of Kamiah, Idaho, Pat Klopstock and husband, Hank Klopstock of Lodi, CA, Debbie Beitz and husband, Ed Beitz of Stockton, CA and Pam Teresi and husband, Frank Teresi of Lodi, CA. He was a caring stand-in father to two live-in nieces, Bonnie Stahl of Reno, Nevada and Gaylene Glidewell of Eugene, Oregon. He was a proud grandfather to 4 granddaughters, Georgina "Gina" Mims and husband, Dana Mims of Stockton, CA, Carrie Fox of Lodi, CA, Jaimee Beitz of Eugene, Oregon and Tiffany Teresi of Lodi, CA; a father and grandfather to quasi-adopted families, Donald and Dianna Barron of Lodi, CA, Larry, Debbie and Stephanie Mackey of Acampo, CA, Brian Mackey of San Diego and Lillian Massey of Stockton, CA; great-grandfather to 1 great- grandson, Garrett Mims of Stockton, CA; step-grandfather to 6 step- grandchildren, Deborah Seal of Stockton, CA, Karen Klopstock Turner of Stockton, CA, Julie Vatuone and husband, Chris Vatuone of Gilroy, CA, Susan Cook and husband, Rick Cook of Tracy, CA, Stephen Helms of Sacramento, CA and Stephen Klopstock and wife, Jennifer Klopstock of San Diego and step great- grandfather to 18 step great-grandchildren, Joshua and Zach Helms, Nicholas Vatuone, Wyatt Mims, Jennifer Miller and husband, Jeffrey Miller, Briaunna and David Turner, Nikole Kleeman, Nathan, Stephen and Emily Loomis, Jesse Booth, William and Michael Cook, Hannah, Cassidy, Tori and Samuel Klopstock. He was survived by his half sister, Gloria Glidewell of Oregon and his half brother, James Glidewell of Louisiana. Loving uncle to several nieces, nephews and their families. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Flowers, in Cherokee Memorial Park on Harney Lane & Hwy. 99, Lodi.
