Mr. Duke was born in St. Johns, AZ on May 23, 1933, to Charles and Mary Duke. He moved to Alameda, CA in 1947, and then he moved to Livermore where he resided for 43 years with his family. Mr. Duke moved to Acampo in 1999. He continued to work for Lawrence Livermore Lab where he had worked for the past 43 years in mechanical engineering. He was an avid water-skiing enthusiast, skiing in the Nationals in Baytown, Texas at the age of 69. Mr. Duke also enjoyed backpacking, hiking, fishing and reading. He was a member of the Catholic church. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Duke of Acampo; children, Judy and husband, Dan Kuhl of Shingle Springs, Patrick and wife, Susan Duke of Livermore, Peggy Duke of Eureka, Daniel and wife, Barbara Duke of Vacaville, Jeffie Duke- Rosenbaum of Fair Oaks, and Timothy Duke of Acampo; 7 grandchildren, Patrick Kuhl, Kelly Kuhl, Ryan Duke, Jerry Duke, Tisha Duke-Rosenbaum, Jena Duke and Shea Duke; brothers, Marty Duke and Albert Duke of St. Johns, AZ. There will be a memorial service at Lodi Funeral Home on Friday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Don Bo of St. Anne's Catholic Church as officiant. There is no visitation and committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Financial Management Branch, Building 31, Room 8A34, 31 Center Drive, MSC 2540, Bethesda, MD 20892-2540.
