She was born March 12, 1908, in Golden Valley, North Dakota. Mrs. Bertsch attended school in Golden Valley, North Dakota and graduated from high school in 1938 in Beulah, North Dakota. She attended Minette Beauty School in Fargo, North Dakota and later worked as a hairdresser at the beauty shop she owned and operated in Beulah, North Dakota. She worked for J.C. Penney Co., Emery & Brown, and Nichols Jewelers in Lodi. Tillie Bertsch She married Adolf J. Bertsch on June 10, 1941, in Bismarck, North Dakota. They moved to Kerman, California and later moved to Lodi in 1947. They had a son, Brent J. Bertsch in 1946 who died while serving his country in Viet Nam in 1968. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lodi where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and had a spiritual influence on the children she taught. They continued to visit her through the years. She loved to talk about the Lord and salvation and had gospel literature for everyone she met. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and son and visited about 60 countries. She was a special aunt and will be lovingly remembered by her family. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, several sisters-in-law and special friend, Rhonda Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolf Bertsch; her son, Brent Bertsch; her brothers, John, Henry, Jack, Adolph and Ardwin Flemmer and her sisters, Louise Beyerle, Lydia Bunk and Helen Flemmer. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3, at 10:00 am at Cherokee Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Newman of First Baptist Church officiating. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 267 N. Mills Avenue, Lodi, CA 95242. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com.
