GEORGE L. HAYWOOD


Mr. George L. Haywood, Sr. of Galt passed away August 30, 2004, in a Lodi 
hospital at the age of 94. Mr. Haywood was born April 21, 1910, in Jefferson, 
Texas. He owned and operated Haywood Construction for many years in Marin 
County and Oakland areas. He had also worked as a welder for Bethlehem Steel in 
the San Francisco shipyards. Mr. Haywood had passion for building homes. He was 
a long time member of Southside Church of Christ in Stockton. He enjoyed 
fishing, woodworking, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Esther Haywood of Galt; 2 sons, Ricardo 
Dion Haywood of Galt, George L. Haywood, Jr. of Acampo; 3 daughters, Lois

Haywood of Sacra-mento, Thelma Delores Haywood of Sacramento, Dorothy LeVonn 
Dixon of Oakland; 1 brother, Joe Haywood of Oakland; 1 sister, Anna Mae 
Williams of Oakland; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Demitra Haywood in 1993.

A church service will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2004, 12:00 noon at the 
Southside Church of Christ in Stockton, followed by interment at the Cherokee 
Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 12:00 -8:00 pm at the 
Lodi Funeral Home.

Lodi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
