Mary Bogges


Mary Margaret Bogges, 78, of Modesto and formerly of Lodi, died Sept. 2 at a 
Modesto rehabilitation hospital. She was born Mary Margaret McClure on April 2, 
1926, in Stotts City, Mo.

Mrs. Bogges moved to California at the age of 16 with her family. She married 
her husband Walter Warren Bogges in 1943 in Lodi, and then settled in 
Corralitos in 1948.

In 1955, they relocated to Freedom after losing their home in the flood that 
year. She worked for 20 years at Bob Scurich Orchards & Cold Storage. She 
enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe, and spending time 
with her family, especially on holidays.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Bogges and Kenneth Bogges, both of 
Watsonville, and Walter Bogges, of Troutdale, Ore.; daughters, Barbara Johnson 
and Betty Ellison, both of Stockton; nine grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Warren Bogges, in 1994; 
brother, James; and sisters, Gladys, Ruby and Lil.

A chapel service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lodi Funeral Home. Committal 
will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 
6 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
